long overdue 2

it has been ages since I have last written anything here. final semester in uni feels very surreal, and at the same time it's frightening.

Saw 'Mao's Last Dancer' with huge this evening. I haven't read the book, but I enjoyed the movie very much.

Apart from that, my mountain load of work has not disappeared.

off to work.

Easter break.

So we've got about 5 days left till the end of our mid-sem break. Time's flying by so fast! I've also got TWO essays to complete and start thinking about research for 922215. argh.

Well, among other things, resh, huge and I went by cafe 3a in Brunswick yesterday to have brunch. The food was really good, whoever came up with the idea of cooking eggs was a genius.

The wall has little cups filled with lilies.

Huge's Cappuccino

3a's Basic Breakfast

Spent some time walking around Brunswick after brunch, it's a really nice place. Too bad the weather was a little too warm, if not the experience would have been perfect.

View opposite the cafe. resh says he'll live there one day.

Well, here's hoping I'll finish C&C essay on time. 1800 more words to go!

'Try to look. Just try and see.'

Finally watched Gran Torino. As suspected, a tear-jerking end there was. Although throughout some bits of the movie, it was kinda difficult to make out what Clint Eastwood's character was saying.

Resh and Louie got Huge a poker chip set as a belated birthday gift last night. So we opened it up and played some Texas Hold'Em. After a couple of hours, Ken got bored and started flicking the cards round like how Gambit does it.
Then Shern does something awesome:

Right smack into a corner of the Foosball table.

Among other things, Domo-kun has found a new home:

Been reading 'Auschwitz and After' by Charlotte Delbo for 119211 presentation on Tues. It's been proving to be quite a tedious read. In any case, must finish it!

Also, I've been busying myself with a lot of Target. If you don't know what that is, basically it's a 3x3 square, with 9 alphabets that make one word. Also you have to use the middle letter to make words of four or more letters, and everyday there's a target you must meet to reach 'good', 'very good' or 'excellent'.

I've been spending WAY too much time on them:

But they're really really fun! And you get to expand your vocabulary!

as samee has said, i'm such a nerd.

Witness.

It's been a whole month since I started school, and time sure is passing by real fast. School's been pretty draggy.

Yo no creo en las clases de la cultura son muy muy aburrido! No me gusta ir a las clases. De verdad, es muy mal, pero siempre entro las clases, y despues de quince minutos, me siento muy cansado y empezo pensar a hora de almuerzo.

Sigh. Apart from that, we've finished up our analysis of Primo Levi's If This Is A Man in 119211, it's been pretty interesting. Samee's convinced that Levi was a mean person, who judged everyone even though he claimed that his memoir would be written in 'clear sober language'. It's been an unique experience studying post-Holocaust topics, and today we had seen a little bit of an interview which included Jean the Pikolo and Charles, who were Levi's comrades during the last days before everyone evacuated the camps when the Russians arrived. They were so old! And as they recall events, you can see how the emotion overcomes them.

Now we're on to Charlotte Delbo's Auschwitz And After, a much more tedious read than Levi's, and I have to do a presentation on her. GAH.

I've been feeling the urge to pick up Jap again. But, as usual, time makes all these things so difficult. And about driving? *frowns*

Yo quiero hacer muchas cosas en mi tercera ano en uni, que triste! porque no tengo mucho tiempo para completar todos, y porque no creo hacerlo en los anos pasados.

here we go again!

okay, I shall try my bestest to update this regularly. So here goes:

nothing much has happened recently, it's almost the end of week 3. School is an utterly painful and draggy experience, weather is annoying too. Apart from that, I have seen a couple of films in the past couple of weeks:

Baby Mama
The House Bunny
Watchmen
Slumdog Millionaire
Step Brothers
Zack & Miri Make a Porno

The only one that disappointed me was Watchmen. I guess maybe if I were a comic book fan, I would understand it better. But I must say the cinematography was very tasteful and I loved the music, but it was confusing, and really difficult to follow after a while. I also liked the cinematography in Slumdog, but I haven't seen the entire film yet, but I thought the kid that plays young Jamal was very brave for diving into a pile of poop. :)

I guess I'm just a sucker for cheesy romance flicks and mindless slapstick humour and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed Baby Mama and House Bunny. But maybe that's only because I think Tina Fey and Anna Faris are awesome.

Step Brothers was a mistake, I had already seen it once and it was definitely NOT a good idea to see it the second time at 3 in the morning. But it was still funny. And I'm glad I finally got to watch Zack & Miri, I thought it was hilarious! And it made it quite difficult to refrain from swearing. But still good fun.

I'm hoping to see Gran Torino soon, I hear it's really good and there is the possibility of a tear-stained ending, we'll see about that.

Apart from my almost religious movie watching, I had decided to continue working on my doodles and a FRIEND and MYSELF had decided on submitting doodles on a weekly basis, but laziness has gotten the better of me. I'm hoping I don't lose the skill, but you know how you get that feeling when anything and everything you draw just sucks? yeah im getting that a lot now, and I feel like my doodles lack a direction. Like I haven't got anything that I really want to draw. :/ Maybe i'll have to dig up some old ideas and practice.

I remember creating this when I was just about to begin second year of uni. Now it's week 3 of my peniultimate semester, and time is just going by so quickly. It makes me feel sad sometimes, that I let it go by me just like that without actually doing anything about it. Like attempting something crazy or doing smth fun. Well, this year I finally did it, I decided to join a club, a dance club. I saw them perform when they were at uni and I decided to give it a shot. At first swing dancing looked really complicated, but after 3 weeks of classes, it's heaps of fun but incredibly sweatifying (I do wish we had better ventilation at the venue).

Well.
Here's to regular posting *toast*
